Mission: To create greater awareness, understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural resources of the Sacramento Region, the need to conserve those resources, and their interrelationships and interdependencies within the Earth's ecosystem.

Naturalist4Hire, Inc. was established to help fill in for programs the Effie Yeaw Nature Center will not be able to do because of cuts to their budget during the County of Sacramento financial crisis. Naturalist4Hire, Inc. offers a variety of high-quality professional outreach services that bring services to our community schools while creating jobs for Local Environmental Education Professionals. Additionally, we promote the important environmental education programs the Effie Yeaw Nature Center does on-site and in other parks of the American River Parkway. Please join us in our quest.

The Go Green Initiative is a simple, comprehensive program designed to create a culture of environmental responsibility on school campuses across the nation. Founded in 2002, the Go Green Initiative unites parents, students, teachers and school administrators in an effort to make real and lasting changes in their campus communities that will protect children and the environment for years to come.

Project Learning Tree® (PLT) is the American Forest Foundation's environmental education program that produces high quality curriculum materials for students in grades PreK-12. PLT uses the forest as a "window" on the world to increase students' understanding of our environment; stimulate students' critical and creative thinking; develop students' ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and instill in students the commitment to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.

California is currently poised to lead the nation in environmental literacy. This effort is termed the Education and Environment Initiative (EEI). With education and a thriving economy at the forefront of the state’s priorities, California’s landmark EEI Curriculum is a national model designed to help prepare today’s students to become future scientists, economists, and green technology leaders.
