Tree Math - Shape, Size, and Weight
Explore trunk circumference, crown spread, leaf dimensions, tree height, and seed weight using measuring tools. Charts, graphs, and math will be used to compare each group’s measurements with the rest of the class and with other trees around the world.
Site: At your school or a nearby park of your choice
Length: 75 minutes

Out on a Limb - Leaf and Branch Structures
Examine, compare, and sort leaves from a variety of trees while discussing the function of their features. Study the buds, leaf scars, and old growth on branches from a variety of trees. Then, use a key to identify the leaves and branches.
