Tree Math - Shape, Size, and Weight

Out on a Limb - Leaf and Branch Structures
Examine, compare, and sort leaves from a variety of trees while discussing the function of their features. Study the buds, leaf scars, and old growth on branches from a variety of trees. Then, use a key to identify the leaves and branches.

The Art of Adaptation
Investigate the ways that animals "adapt" - develop certain traits and behaviors over time- to suit their environment. Group animals using common characteristics; compare and contrast the various types of adaptations and discuss how adaptations help animals to survive. Examine the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Investigate the specialized body parts that assist the animals when they eat and experience animal adaptations through a variety of hands-on activities.
